The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (“HKIE”) held its 50th Anniversary Dinner cum Awards Presentation Ceremony on the 17th, presenting a number of prestigious honours to outstanding members of the engineering sector in recognition of their remarkable contributions to engineering professionalism and social development. The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary, as the Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, Infinity Consulting (Asia) Limited (“Infinity Consulting”) was honoured with both the Gold and Silver Awards at the “HKIE Grand Award 2026”, fully demonstrating the industry’s high recognition of the Company’s achievements in technological innovation, industrialized construction and sustainable development.

In his speech, Financial Secretary Mr. Paul Chan stated that the HKSAR Government attaches great importance to the engineering profession. Over the next five years, annual public works expenditure is expected to reach approximately HKD 130 billion. The Government will also further strengthen research and development as well as the application of innovation and technology, turning public works projects into a platform for showcasing Hong Kong’s engineering capabilities. He further noted that upcoming major infrastructure projects, particularly the development of the Northern Metropolis, will bring significant new opportunities to the engineering sector. He also highlighted three major trends reshaping the industry: artificial intelligence, green transformation and carbon neutrality, and the opportunities arising from the country’s high-quality development.

Among the awards, the “HKIE Grand Award 2026” was presented as one of the most prestigious honours of the evening. The Gold Award was won by the team of Haihong Technology Company, a subsidiary of Infinity Consulting. According to the HKIE judging panel, the AI-powered intelligent fire services inspection technology developed by the Haihong team under the leadership of Engineer Ng Chi-wai represents an innovative application of artificial intelligence in the field of fire services inspection. Leveraging its self-developed AI algorithms and handheld laser scanners, the technology can automatically identify building components in 3D point cloud models, extract three-dimensional coordinates, accurately compare the as-built conditions with the engineering drawings, and automatically generate inspection results. This not only significantly shortens inspection time, but also improves accuracy, reduces human error, and enhances overall efficiency by approximately 30%, injecting new momentum into fire safety management for buildings in Hong Kong. Earlier, Haihong, in collaboration with Henderson Land Development Company Limited, also achieved second place in the “Local Construction Productivity” category at the “CIC Innovation Award 2025” organized by the Construction Industry Council, with the same research and development project.

The Silver Award was won by China State Construction International Medical Industry Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Infinity Consulting. The HKIE recognized that the team led by Engineers Zhang Yi and So Ka-ki, through the project “Application of the China State Construction International Modular Hospital Series in Medical Development”, adhered to standardized modular design and rapidly delivered high-quality, green and intelligent medical facilities. This series of solutions significantly shortens construction periods and reduces on-site construction requirements, while offering excellent cost-effectiveness and flexible standardized spatial configurations. Compared with traditional buildings, it also substantially reduces potential carbon emissions, fully reflecting the concept of sustainable development. By integrating advanced industrialized construction, digitalization, and green low-carbon technologies, the China State Construction International Modular Hospital Series fully embodies the concept of “new quality productive forces”, injecting innovative momentum into the architectural engineering profession and promoting the industry’s development towards global modernization. Earlier, the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Hospital and Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute project also won the award in the “Public Building – Hospital / Medical” category at the 53rd World Architecture Community Awards, making it the only Chinese project to receive an award in that edition. It also won the Gold Award in the Healthcare and Medical Facilities category at the French Design Awards 2026, becoming the only hospital project to receive a Gold Award in that edition.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the HKIE, and the “HKIE Grand Award”, as a benchmark award in the engineering industry, has attracted wide attention. At this important milestone, Infinity Consulting is deeply honoured to once again receive recognition and commendation from the HKIE for the Company’s core contributions in technological breakthroughs, optimization of urban operations, and the application of innovative technologies. Looking ahead, the Company will continue to uphold the philosophy of “acting with precision and diligence, and building excellence for the long term”, further cultivating its presence in the engineering sector, and contributing China State Construction’s strength and wisdom to the high-quality development of urban construction and industries in Hong Kong and around the world.
